Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was full of praise for Manchester United’s performance in the aftermath of their 5-0 Champions League group stage win on Wednesday night.
At Old Trafford a game developed with little chance in the first half, in which United went into the break with a lead thanks to a goal from Greenwood on the 21st minute.
“We’ve played against two very good teams now in Leipzig and PSG, two difficult games, and the quality is absolutely fantastic,” solskjaer said.
“If we focus on doing the same in the next job, and the next job and the next job after that, then who knows how far we can go. If you can work and work then you will get your rewards.
“The squad is good and adaptable and it gives us options to play different formations. I’m very pleased at the moment.” Solskjaer added.
The Leipzig team found it difficult in the second half to be dangerous against the hosts. In the 74th minute, the substitute Marcus Rashford stayed cool after a perfect pass into the run and made the decision with the 2-0.
Shortly afterwards, Rashford made it 3-0 again. Anthony Martial with a penalty and Rashford with his hat-trick made the final score 5-0.
“Marcus Rashford is on fire. It’s like being in the playground with a sixth former against the younger boys and he just bullies everyone, too quick and too strong,” Solskjaer said.
“He was head and shoulders above Leipzig. He made some defenders, who we were raving about before the game, look like schoolboys tonight.” he added.
When asked about Dutchman van de Beek, Solskjaer responded: “Donny is a fantastic player and a fantastic boy. You see the work he puts down both on and off the ball. He covers the ground and is so clever with his movement. I am very pleased.”
Solskjaer’s side next game is against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
