This result also made Karim Benzema cs fail to cut the distance from Atletico Madrid who are at the top of the standings. Madrid is still 7 points adrift of Atletico.
Los Blancos goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois confirmed that his team did not give up on chasing the top of the standings.
Courtois is aware that Madrid will find it increasingly difficult to catch Atletico after this defeat. However, he invited colleagues to keep fighting until the end.
“We have to always fight,” Courtois said on the club’s official website.
“La Liga continues until May, but they continue to win and stay at the top. We have to look for reactions, win our games and make sure others lose.”
Courtois deeply regretted the red card that Militao received. According to him, playing against Levante with 10 players is very difficult.
“We had to fight today. We played 10 men from the seventh minute and in the end it made football difficult,” he continued.
“Levante is in good form, they play good football and are always difficult, and if you play with ten people it makes it even more difficult.”
