Barcelona managed to beat Sevilla 2-0 in the Spanish League match at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, Saturday (27/2).
Lionel Messi proves that he is not finished and still has top level abilities through his goals in 2021. Messi is the star of Barcelona’s victory over host Sevilla. Messi scored one goal and one assist
Barcelona performed well in the first half as they managed to reduce Sevilla’s pressure. The hosts were completely unable to fire a shot at Barcelona’s goal as the discipline demonstrated by Sergio Busquets and friends.
In the first half, Barcelona created more opportunities. The Blaugrana were also able to go one goal ahead in the first half through Ousmane Dembele.
This goal came from Lionel Messi’s foresight to see a gap in Sevilla’s defense. Messi released a breakthrough bait that freed Dembele from the Sevilla defense.
Faced one-on-one with Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, Dembele calmly sent the ball into the net.
Due to poor performance in the first half, Sevilla made three substitutions during the break. Youssef En-Nesyri and Suso were brought in to add power while Karim Rekik was sent to replace Diego Carlos who was already hit by a yellow card.
The change began to have an impact with Sevilla’s success in recording opportunities and shots on target.
But Barcelona also did not stay silent. They had successively golden opportunities in the 60th minute. After Sergino Dest’s shot hit the post, it was not long before Messi’s turn shot soaring over the net.
In the 80th minute, En-Nesyri managed to break into the Barcelona goal. However, the goal was not approved because En-Nesyri first did a handball before scoring.
In the 85th minute, Messi finally doubled Barcelona’s lead to 2-0. Messi managed to break through the Sevilla defense and faced off one on one with Bounou.
Bounou dammed an attempt to pry Messi, but the wild ball that returned to Messi was not wasted by Messi to score a goal.
In the remaining time, no more goals are scored. The match ended with a score of 2-0.
One goal against Sevilla, Messi has scored 14 goals in 2021. This number makes Messi the most fertile player in 2021 so far.
Messi’s return to fertility also had a significant impact on Barcelona. The Blaugrana are now in second place in the La Liga standings with a collection of 53 points.
Messi and his friends are only two points behind Atletico Madrid, who are currently at the top of the standings. Although Atletico still have two more matches left, Barcelona’s presence, which is in a good trend, certainly puts pressure on Atletico, who just competed on Sunday (28/2).
Messi’s future so far is still uncertain as his contract expires at Barcelona at the end of this season. Messi is said to be preparing to start a new adventure outside La Liga with Manchester City and PSG being said to be the strongest candidate for Messi’s new club.
