Spain La Liga Results: Benzema scores, Real Madrid wins over Sevilla

The leader of the Spanish League standings, Real Madrid, managed to beat Sevilla 2-1.

The Spanish League continued match was held at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Madrid, Sunday (28/11).

Real Madrid, who played at home, struggled to develop their game at the start of the first half. This makes Sevilla appear more dominating and can score two attempts on target first.

In the 12th minute, Sevilla’s third effort on target immediately success after Rafa Mir scored via a free kick scheme. Receiving Marcos Acuna’s cross, the unguarded Rafa Mir headed a header that Thibaut Courtois failed to reach.

Winning 1-0 makes Sevilla more comfortable in playing the ball. Evidently, they were meticulously capable of building attacks from behind.

On the other hand, Real Madrid still could not perform optimally and their attacks ended in a stalemate.

Los Blancos then tried a long-range shot through Kroos in the 24th minute, but it was still high.

In the 27th minute, the home side scored the first shot on target via Vinicius Junior’s action in a chaotic situation in the Sevilla penalty box.

However, the efforts of the young Brazilian player can still be caught by Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.

Meanwhile, Sevilla almost doubled their position when Lucas Ocampos released his right foot placing kick. Luckily for Real Madrid, Ocampos kick only hit the bar.

After that, Los Blancos who tried to equalize finally succeeded in the 32nd minute.

Eder Militao made a speculative kick from distance that was so fast and right on target. Bounou swiftly parried the ball which then hit Sevilla’s left post. However, the wild ball can be struck by Karim Benzema into the goal.

Benzema’s goal drew Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw with Sevilla in the first half.

The game continues, Sevilla again took the initiative to attack first. The Andalusian camp spread threats through the action of Papu Gomez who cut inside on the left side and fired from outside the penalty box. However, Thibaut Courtois this time in the right position to catch the ball.

Sevilla is still in control of the game. In addition, dominance also makes them superior in possession of the ball up to 61 percent.

On the other hand, Real Madrid continues to try to get out of the pressure. In the 58th minute, Carlo Ancelotti’s team finally found a gap again.

The defensive midfielder Casemiro sent a through ball to Marco Asensio. The Spaniard then dribbled quickly and released placing his left foot from outside the penalty box. Unfortunately, Asensio’s shot that curled and headed to the left was just sideways thin over the Sevilla goal.

Entering the 70th minute, Real Madrid turned to threaten Sevilla again, this time taking advantage of the counter-attack situation.

When Sevilla’s attack was decided by the Los Blancos defense, Benzema who received the ball made a lightning counter attack. The Spanish League’s temporary top scorer then shifted the ball to Vinicius Junior on the right. However, Vinicius’s shot only bounced after arriving in the Sevilla penalty box.

The stronghold of the Spanish capital turned control of the match in the final 15 minutes of the match. They dominated Sevilla in the other third of the defense and were looking for a second goal.

Real Madrid’s dominance has finally paid off. In the 87th minute, the home team managed to score a second goal through Vinicius Junior.

Starting from Eder Militao’s cross, Vinicius Junior was able to receive the ball on the left and stabbed in. Not long after, Vinicius released a hard kick from outside the penalty box that led to the right. Bounou failed to block the ball so fast that Real Madrid came back 2-1.

Left behind made Sevilla re-awakened by aggressively attacking Real Madrid.

In the minutes of injury time, Sevilla had a golden opportunity via a free kick scheme which was ended by Thomas Delaney’s header. However, Courtois can do a heroic action with his edge so that Real Madrid is safe from conceding.

Until the long whistle was blown, the score 2-1 for Real Madrid’s victory remained.

This victory makes Real Madrid strengthen its position at the top of the Spanish League standings. Los Blancos now have 33 points from 14 matches or 4 points ahead of Atletico Madrid in second place and Real Sociedad in third.

This victory also made Los Blancos extend their unbeaten run in nine matches in a row and always win in the last six matches.
