Spain La Liga Results: Madrid Lose to Alaves

Real Madrid lost 1-2 to Alaves in Week 11 of the Spanish League at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium, Sunday (29/11). Real Madrid also had to lose Eden Hazard who was injured again.

In the fourth minute Madrid are awarded a penalty after Nacho is deemed handball for blocking Victor Laguardia’s header with a hand.

Lucas, who became a successful kicker, brought Alaves ahead in the fifth minute after the ball from his left foot shot lodged in the right side of the goal without being able to anticipate by Thibaut Courtois.

Mariano Diaz’s header from a corner in the 15th minute is caught by the goalkeeper.

In the 24th minute Lucas Perez wasted a good chance for Alaves to increase the lead to 2-0.

On the counterattack, Perez faced Courtois one on one after receiving a long pass from his partner. Perez also decided to punch the ball to score goals.

However, Courtois’ response was better so that the ball was pushed over and Madrid’s goal was saved from being conceded.

Alaves goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco made a brilliant save in the 39th minute. Toni Kroos’ chance in a one-on-one situation was countered by Pacheco with his foot. Kroos’ rebound ball was also pushed over by Pacheco.

Alaves made another surprise at the start of the second half after Joselu scored a goal in the 49th minute. Courtois’ blunder was the start of Joselu’s goal.

After receiving a backpass, Courtois made a wrong pass, the ball fell to Joselu’s feet who had no trouble scoring a goal into an empty net.

Referee Adrian Cordero used VAR twice to check for incidents in the penalty box for both teams in the second half. But there was no penalty either for Alaves in the 68th minute or for Madrid in the 82nd minute.

Madrid could only score a reply in the final minutes of the game through Casemiro in the 86th minute. Casemiro’s goal came after chaos in front of Alaves’ goal.

Courtois made a crucial save in the crucial minute by blocking Javi Lopez’s shot in the 89th minute.

Isco failed to save Madrid from defeat after his injury-time strike only hit the bar. Madrid lost 1-2 to Alaves.
