Spanish La Liga results: Messi scores a goal, Barcelona wins

Barcelona defeated Leganes 2-0 in the Spanish La Liga match at Camp Nou on Tuesday (6/17). Barcelona’s two winning goals in this match were created by Ansu Fati in the 42nd minute and a penalty from Lionel Messi in the 69th minute.

Barcelona coach, Quique Setien, in this fight again did not play Luis Suarez from the start. Setien chose Ansu Fati to accompany Antoine Griezman and Lionel Messi on the front lines.

Barcelona experienced a difficult match against Leganes early in the first half. Lionel Messi, who was the motor behind Barcelona’s attack, was completely locked in by the Leganes defender.

Until the game entered the 30th minute, Barcelona had not even been able to open fire on the goal of Leganes.

The difficult situation in the first half was finally able to be overcome by Ansu Fati in the 42nd minute.

Beginning with the movement of Junior Firpo on the right side of the Leganes defense, the ball is then sent to Ansu Fati. Despite being blocked by Leganes defenders, Ansu Fati succeeds in making a kick that makes the ball pass between the opponent’s legs.

Ansu Fati’s kick makes the ball roll into the left corner of the goal without being able to dammed by Ivan Cuellar.

Left behind by one goal in the first round does not make Leganes intend to play more openly. They still put more players in the defense area.

In the 65th minute, Antoine Griezmann successfully broke into the Leganes goal. Messi’s breakthrough bait in the direction of Nelson Semedo continues to be a horizontal cross to Griezmann who coldly sends the ball into the goal.

But the goal was finally not validated because Semedo was declared offside when receiving the ball from Messi.

Three minutes later, Barcelona finally managed to score the second goal through Messi. Messi got a penalty after he was violated and managed to execute the penalty well.

The score of 2-0 lasted until the end of the match and Barcelona made sure to stay at the top of the standings this week.

For Lionel Messi, an additional 1 goal makes his goal collection this season in the Spanish League to 21 goals. Goal difference with Karim Benzema (14 goals) in second place is getting further that is 7 goal difference.

Additional 3 points make Barcelona now 5 points adrift of second place Real Madrid. Real Madrid themselves will play on Thursday (6/18/2020). On the other hand, Leganes did not move from 20th position or the bottom of the standings with 23 points.
