Barcelona returned to the top of the Spanish league standings after beating Real Valladolid 5-1 in the 10th week’s match at Camp Nou Stadium on Wednesday (10/30).
The Barcelona start went pretty well. The second minute, the host audience was cheering to welcome the goals posted by Clement Lenglet to take advantage of the chaos in the penalty box.
This goal originated from a Lionel Messi pass that failed to be driven perfectly by the Valladolid defense. The ball that was tried to be thrown instead led to Lenglet who then opened fire. The ball had hit the crossbar before entering the goal.
After winning, Barcelona continued to maintain possession. But Valladolid was then able to steal the opportunity in the 15th minute. Starting from Nacho’s free kick, the ball failed to be secured properly by Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Kiko Olivas equalized.
The visitors’ goal was made by Kiko Olivas after taking advantage of a set piece situation. Valladolid gets a free kick on the left side. Michel’s kick was pushed over by Marc-Andre ter Stegen, but the ball threw up on Olivas and into the goal.
Opportunities for Barcelona in the 26th minute did not produce results. Frenkie De Jong’s bait towards the far post could not be reached by Arturo Vidal.
After exchanging attacks, Barcelona returned to winning in the 29th minute. Lionel Messi gives a pass that can be resolved by Arturo Vidal.
Score 2-1 only lasted five minutes. Messi keeps Barcelona away from the pursuit of Valladolid thanks to his free kick.
Position 3-1 lasts long enough. In addition to holding out until halftime, Barcelona also needed up to 30 minutes in the second half to add goals again.
Messi scored again in the 75th minute, this time the superstar continued Ivan Rakitic’s pass which changed the score to 4-1.
Two minutes later, Luis Suarez also added to the Blaugrana advantage. Messi contributed to Barcelona’s fifth goal with a pass.
