UFC on Monday has revealed that former heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum was rehired once again to comment on fights alongside Spanish television.
“Yes, I’m happy about this because I love this job. It’s not just about money. For money too, but it’s my job. I like this job.” Werdum said.
“The first time I go to the TV for commentary I did not like it because I have a fight coming up and I didn’t want to do that, but now I love this job.
“I love TV because it’s in Spanish, for all Latin America, for USA in FOX Desportes, and I’m fluent in Spanish, I’m very comfort that. I love this.” Werdum added.
In 2016, Werdum was sacked from his job after posting an anti-Reebok post on his social media account, but says he’s a “company gut’ and claims everything is positive now after his meeting with UFC president Dana White on last week.
“Sometimes you get into trouble with your wife, with your friend, that’s normal life. And sometimes you get confused at work too. But it is not very important the little confusions. It’s from the past.” Werdum said.
Werdum is hoping to return to Saturday’s UFC 221, which is taking place in Perth and features Luke Rockhold against Yoel Romero for the interim middleweight championship, and sees his work as a commentator for his retirement as a fighter.
“Maybe I stop fighting in four years, three years, I have a good job now. Not job just for money, but I love this job. It’s much better.” Werdum said.
