Ruben Amorim Not Certain to Join the Red Devils Immediately Even if Both Clubs Have Agreed

Ruben Amorim is getting closer to becoming Manchester United’s new head coach due to Sporting claims the Red Devils are willing to pay Amorim’s release clause.

Reported by the Daily Mail, Sporting Lisbon has announced that Man United has made an approach. The Red Devils are also said to be willing to pay a contract worth 10 million Euros or equivalent to Rp170 billion to bring Amorim to Old Trafford.

This was conveyed by Sporting in their official release on Tuesday (10/30/2024).

“First, Manchester United expressed its interest in hiring Ruben Amorim referring to the terms and conditions set out in the applicable employment contract between the company and the coach, especially the contract termination clause of 10 million Euros,” read the statement from the Portuguese club.

“Second, Manchester United expressed interest in paying Sporting the value of the clause mentioned above.”

Communication between Man United and Sporting is currently ongoing. Reportedly, the parties are just looking for an agreement regarding when Amorim will start coaching Man Uniteed once all the agreements are complete.

The Red Devils are even reported to want Amorim to be able to fill the position left by Erik ten Hag as soon as possible. If possible, the Portuguese coach is ready for the match against Chelsea in the Premier League, November 3rd.

However, reportedly, one of the obstacles that has arisen is the time of Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford. Amorim is said to not be able to immediately leave Sporting even though all the agreements have been made.

Amorim will still lead Sporting in the Portuguese League match against Estrela da Amadora on Friday (1/11/2024). In fact, according to the Daily Mail report, Amorim could stay at Sporting longer even though an agreement has been reached between him and Manchester United.

In Amorim’s contract clause with Sporting, it is stated that Amorim is required to give notice of his resignation several weeks before he officially resigns. As a result, Amorim is said to only really accompany the Red Devils on the sidelines after the international break in November.

If that really happens, Amorim will only accompany Manchester United in the match against Ipswich Town, November 24.

However, many believe that Man United could negotiate with Sporting to speed up Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford because Man United and Sporting have reportedly agreed on the release clause of 10 million Euros.

If Sporting sticks to the existing contract clause, Man United will first depend on the strategy of Ruud van Nistelrooy who is currently acting as interim coach.
