Stefanos Tsitsipas, the rise of the Greek tennis player, continues at the 2023 Paris Masters season after facing Alexander Zverev.
The seventh seed successfully beat the tenth seed, Zverev, 7-6, 6-4 in the third round of the Paris Masters. Throughout the match, he hit 37 winners, including ten aces, to claim his 50th win of the season and strengthen his chances of appearing at the ATP Finals again.
Thanks to a victory fought for 1 hour 59 minutes, the champion of the 2019 ATP Finals season is increasingly superior in head to head against the champion of the 2018 and 2021 ATP Finals seasons, Zverev with 9-4.

“That’s really amazing. “It’s a great relief to finally be able to secure a place in the tournament,” exclaimed Tsitsipas after sealing a place at the ATP Finals, Turin for the fifth time in a row.
“I’ve trained really hard all season to be in Turin and it’s a moment of relief that I can get to one of my favorite tournaments of the season. I got the opportunity to play in front of my fans in Italy, but also some fans from Greece.”
“I feel excited to play a good game and try to be humble in victory and I really want to stay strong and show some of my potential there in Paris.”
After having an impressive first half of the 2023 season, the Greek tennis player has struggled in the last few months to find his best level of play. He was only 6-4 after winning his 10th career title in Los Cabos last August, but he showed a better level of play by making the semifinals in Antwerp and Vienna before arriving at the Paris Masters.
Starting the third round, the seventh seed played quite quickly when he built a 5-2 lead. But he remained calm when German tennis player Zverev showed his efforts to recover and showed it when he won the first set tiebreak.
In the second set, the seventh seed broke Zverev in the first game and this time he did not squander the lead he built without facing another break point opportunity before claiming his first win over a top 10 player this season.
The 25 year old tennis player, Stefanos Tsitsipas, who has qualified for the semifinals of the 2022 Paris Masters, will next challenge Karen Khachanov in the quarterfinals after the 16th seed beat his compatriot, Roma Safiullin, who beat Carlos Alcaraz in the second round, 4-6, 6-4 , 6-2.
