Steph Curry Speaks Out on Klay Thompson’s Future After Warriors’ Playoff Exit at the Hands of the Kings

The Golden State Warriors’ playoff aspirations came to an end this season. Despite a respectable 46-36 record during the regular season, the Warriors found themselves in a tough spot as the 10th seed in the Play-In Tournament.

Unfortunately, their journey was halted by the Sacramento Kings, leaving them to face an offseason that could potentially redefine their dynasty.

Curry and Draymond Green remain under contract for the foreseeable future, Klay Thompson’s future with the team hangs in the balance as he approaches unrestricted free agency this summer.

The inability to reach an extension agreement has sparked speculation about his potential departure.

Sadly, Thompson’s final opportunity to play this season turned into a nightmarish outing, as he failed to score a single point in his 32 minutes on the court, going 0-for-10 from the field.

In the aftermath of the game, Curry was asked about Thompson’s future, and he expressed his unwavering belief in the trio’s continued partnership.

Curry couldn’t envision a future where the long-standing trio wouldn’t be playing together.

“I could never see myself not with those two guys. I understand this league changes and there’s so many things that go into it and we’re not gonna play forever,” Curry said.

“But we’ve experienced so much together, and at the end of the day, again, I know they want to win, I know I want to win, and that’s all I’m worried about.” Curry added.

Despite the disappointing end to the season, there is a silver lining for the 34-year-old Thompson. He showcased his productivity throughout the 2023-24 campaign, despite some ups and downs.

With an average of 17.9 points in 29.7 minutes per game and a 38.7 percent success rate from beyond the arc, Thompson proved that he still possesses the skills to contribute at a high level.
