Stephen Curry Extends Contract with Warriors

Stephen Curry has formally expanded his deal after speculations that he may be leaving the Golden State Warriors on Friday.

For the 2026/27 season, ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski claimed it was worth US$62.6 million.

Curry had already signed an agreement until 2025/25 with the Californian group for this reason.

During the summer break, there were a few comments made by Curry that made some journalists presume he was planning on quitting.

The Olympian mentioned he aspired to be a victor even as he preferred being in the San Francisco team.

“I think it’s hard to predict the future. What I can say is that I’ve always said that I wanted to be here until the end of my basketball career.” Curry said.

“But it’s very important to be competitive. And I think it’s possible to do both until the end.

“Of course, I think about a guarantee of competing for a title and I think the franchise is doing everything it can to ensure that.

“It’s necessary with so many changes that the NBA has gone through and the amount of talented teams that we have now,” Curry added.

Back in February, LeBron James might trade places with Curry in a move that would land him with the Warriors, but the Lakers man decided to remain there and even sign a new deal.

However, it was suggested during the Olympics that Curry could instead end up at Lakers.

By signing a new contract, the 36-year-old star has indicated that he wants to be a Warrior for life.

Even though nobody knows when he’ll hang it up, we do know for sure that he won’t be leaving the franchise this term. So he’ll receive $178 million guaranteed over the next three years.

“Of course I would like to retire with the Warriors with him and Draymond Green in the NBA. He made a decision that he felt was best for him overall, but history never goes away.” Curry said.

“Let’s celebrate what we did together, because it’s not easy to do this for so long. But it’s definitely weird,” he added.

Curry had 26.4 points, 5.1 assists and shot 40.8 percent from the field last season with the Warriors.
