League of Legends is the second game branch in the 2024 Esports World Cup which has completed all its matches. The 2024 Esports World Cup tournament for the League of Legends game only lasts for three days, to be precise, July 4-7 2024.
Unlike other game branches where participants have to go through various qualification paths, all the teams appearing in the League of Legends game division are teams invited by the organizing committee. That’s why several big names in the competitive MOBA game scene are competing to win a total prize of US$ 1 million.
T1 from South Korea managed to win the tournament which was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Faker and his friends succeeded in eliminating seven other teams competing in this tournament, while ending the tournament with an undefeated status.
The tournament format which uses a single elimination system does not provide a second chance for the competing teams. Apart from that, there were only 8 teams of contestants, so this tournament started immediately in the quarter-finals.
T1’s journey to the top match started by beating Bilibili Gaming with a score of 2-1 in the quarter-finals. After that, Faker and friends beat Team Liquid with a score of 2-1 in the semifinals by making a comeback after trailing 0-1.
The top party of the 2024 Esports World Cup in the League of Legends division brought together T1 and Top Esports in a best of five format. After trailing 0-1 at first, T1 made a comeback to win with a score of 3-1. T1’s victory was also sweetened by Faker’s success in becoming MVP in this tournament.
