Tallon Griekspoor showed a pretty good demonstration of dealing with the pressure of playing at home when he participated in the Libema Open, ‘s-Hertogenbosch 2023 season.

The sixth seed was dogged as she faced resurgent Swede Mikael Ymer before racking up a 6-2 3-6 6-3 victory in the first round of the Libema Open.

Fighting to retain his home team in the tournament’s singles event, the sixth seed converted three of the ten break point opportunities he created to seal his 17th win of the 2023 season.

“I feel happy with my performance, happy with this win,” said Griekspoor. “Especially at home. I really enjoy playing at home. Big crowd, lots of support, lots of friends and family in the stands, so I’m really enjoying this win.”

“It was a tough match. The first match on grass-court is never easy. So I’m really happy to have gone through it and to have another chance to fight.”

The 26-year-old tennis player, Griekspoor, who also qualified for the second round of the 2022 Libema Open, will next face Alexei Popyrin after the Australian tennis player eliminated French national Arthur Rinderknech 6-3, 7-6.

Meanwhile, Milos Raonic, who won over Miomir Kecmanovic in his first match since July 2021, will challenge Jordan Thompson in the second round. Australian tennis player, Thompson, who qualified for the final at ‘s-Hertogenbosch 2019 season, eliminated French tennis player, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 6-4, 7-6.

In another action, Finnish tennis player Emil Ruusuvuori had to give his best before knocking out US tennis player Brandon Nakashima to advance to the second round. He saved five of six break point opportunities before sealing a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory and will face Frenchman Ugo Humbert.

Kazakh national tennis player Alexander Bublik buried Belgian national David Goffin 7-5, 7-5 to book a second round match against second seed Jannik Sinner.

Meanwhile, the 2019 Libema Open champion from France, Adrian Mannarino, refused to give up and overthrew his compatriot, Arthur Fils, 7-6, 6-4. The 34-year-old tennis player must prepare well because he will challenge the first seed, Daniil Medvedev for a place in the quarterfinals.
