LGD Gaming are the third team to have left the competition on day two of the playoffs stage at Riyadh Masters 2024.
After Aurora and Entity got their tournament keys crushed earlier in the day, it was LGD’s turn to attempt to change the narrative and deliver an upset. However, they were no match for Team Spirit, the Riyadh Masters defending champions.
Team Spirit were forced to a lower bracket run in Riyadh after losing the playoffs quarterfinals to Team Liquid. That was quite a rough series for Spirit, who took their lesson, drew their conclusions and came ready to utilise one of the key heroes from Liquid’s drafts against LGD.
Team Spirit vs LGD Gaming
Tiny is becoming one of the hottest heroes at Riyadh Masters. Liquid crushed Spirit with it and moving forward, Denis “Larl” Sigitov got to play it back-to-back in the series against LGD and even have a bit of extra fun with it. Game one went past the 60 minute mark, which meant tier 5 neutral items coming online.
Despite going into a super late scenario, versus an Alchemist carry from LGD, Team Spirit were in full control of the map and were at over 50K gold advantage. While the high ground battle seemed at times harder than it should have been, Larl decided to pick the Unwavering Condition neutral item that would actually reduce Tiny’s power, just to make a strong statement.
He was allowed to play Tiny in game two as well, and that would come to haunt LGD as Team Spirit recovered quickly from a slow laning stage to run over the Chinese team and eliminate them from the competition.
While LGD are heading home, Team Spirit are mounting a lower bracket comeback to defend their title and will return to the arena on Friday, July 19 to play against the winner of OG vs PSG Quest.
