Indonesian men’s doubles partner, Mohammad Ahsan / Hendra Setiawan, won the BWF World Tour Finals 2019 title. They won the BWF World Tour Finals 2019 after defeating Hiroyuki Endo / Yuta Watanabe from Japan.
Ahsan / Hendra ended Endo / Watanabe’s resistance through two straight games with a score of 24-22, 21-19. The final match of the 2019 BWF World Tour Finals took place at Tianhe Gymnasium, China, Sunday (12/15/2019).
This victory also became the only title won by Indonesia in the tournament. The other finalist from Indonesia in men’s single, Anthony Ginting, has to give up the title to Kento Momoto (Japan).
In addition, this championship title made Ahsan / Hendra won the BWF World Tour Finals title for the third time. Previously the couple nicknamed The Daddies won the BWF (then named Superseries Finals) in 2013 and 2015.
Ahsan also claimed to be happy with the results they achieved. He did not expect to get the title.
“Praise God, surely we are very grateful to have been given many championships. It’s amazing for us. Being able to win the title in this tournament is beyond our expectations,” Mohammad Ahsan was quoted.
The same thing was said by Hendra. He insisted he would be better prepared to welcome the tournament next year.
“Certainly thankful and happy, this year is truly extraordinary for us. This has been an outstanding final year-end championship title,” Hendra Setiawan said. “But after this, we have to be better prepared for next year. And that’s what we think is more important,” Hendra said again.
On the other hand, Ahsan claimed to be satisfied with his appearance with Hendra throughout 2019. However, Ahsan insisted he did not want to get too long in the euphoria of this victory.
“We are quite satisfied with the overall appearance from the beginning of the year to the present day,” Ahsan said. “But the satisfaction is only for this year. We still have to face the following year, there are still many tournaments ahead,” said Ahsan.
During 2019, Ahsan / Hendra managed to step into the top party 10 times. Of the 10 final parties, four of which can be completed Ahsan / Hendra with a victory.
The four titles won by Ahsan / Hendra are the All England, the New Zealand Open, the Badminton World Championship, and the BWF World Tour Finals.
