The End Of The Feud Between Beckham And Alex Ferguson

When a Manchester United player thinks he is bigger than the manager, he has to go. That’s the bottom line and unwritten rules that everyone know. The above statement was written by Alex Ferguson in his autobiography in the chapter that discusses his relationship with David Beckham. “When the manager loses authority, there is no such thing as a club. Players will start to organize, and that’s a problem that he added.

On June 17, 2003 Manchester United sold their star David Beckham to Spanish giants Real Madrid. Beckham signed for Manchester United in 1991 aged 14 and helped win a number of titles at Old Trafford, including six Premier League titles, two FA Cup trophies and a Champions League trophy. He has also received numerous individual honours, including the PFA Young Player of the Year (1996–1997), UEFA Club Player of the Year (1999) and BBC Sports Personality of the Year (2001). Beckham made 394 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions and scored 85 goals.

The dispute between Beckham and Fergie began with the attitude of the player who was too focused outside of football. Especially after marrying Spice Girls personnel, Victoria Adams. Another incident is a matter of hairstyle, a star figure that sticks to making Becks a role model for many young people around the world.

This attitude was not liked by Sir Alex Ferguson. Once at a Man United training, many photographers came in an unusual number. It turned out that day, Beckham wanted to show his new hairstyle. He came wearing a hood and stayed in it through dinner with the team.

Fergie did not like this because it was considered disrespectful to other players. Beckham’s stubborn attitude made him still refuse to take off the head covering, even though he had been warned by his manager. Even until the warm-up before the game the next day, he still wears a beanie. This made Fergie furious and threatened not to play it, Beckham turned angry and finally wanted to let her go. It turned out that he wanted his bald hair to appear before the game and attract the attention of many people.

The peak was when Man Untied met Arsenal in February 2003, being too focused on attacking made Beckham neglect to defend. The Red Devils finally lost with a score of 2-0. Fergie went straight to him to give a warning, not accepting that Beckham turned to swearing. Spontaneously the manager kicked a shoe that was lying on the floor and hit his temple.

The next day, a photo of Beckham with a bandage on his head went viral, complete with the full story, in the locker room. Enough for Fergie to finally tell the board of directors to let go of the star. At the end of that season, with the relationship hanging on the rocks, Manchester United sold Beckham to Real Madrid for €35 million (£25 million) on 17 June 2003.

After spending twelve seasons with United, Beckham only spent four with Real Madrid, helping them to the La Liga title in 2006-07. In the summer of 2007, he moved to the United States, joining MLS club LA Galaxy. He was a LA Galaxy player until 2012, including a loan spell at AC Milan. Until finally he decided to retire at Paris St Germain. Right now, he is definitely living legend who is the owner of Inter Miami.
