The Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks finalised a trade involving Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis through a three-team deal that involved the Utah Jazz.
ESPN journalist Shams Charania reported that the Utah Jazz joined the three-way trade.
This trade between the Lakers and Mavericks includes Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris while Anthony Davis, Max Christie and the 2029 first-round pick from Los Angeles go to the Mavericks.
Finally, the Jazz get Jalen Hood-Schifino, the Los Angeles Clippers’ 2025 second-round pick and a Mavericks second-round pick.
The NBA recorded this move as one of its most incredible player transfers.
Luka Doncic occupied a special position as the Mavericks’ leading player because he succeeded legendary player Dirk Nowitzki and fans never expected this trade to occur.
During the 2020 season Davis departed from the Los Angeles Lakers following their victorious title with LeBron James.
Mavericks General Manager Nico Harrison said that the trade enhances the defensive capabilities of the team.
“I believe defenses win championships, but having a defensive-minded All-Defensive Team and All-NBA center gives us a better chance. We’re built to win now and in the future.” Harrison said.
This NBA deal provides the Lakers with a top NBA talent whereas the Mavericks get a defensive star after their Luka Doncic injury. At present the Mavs occupy the eighth slot in their conference table.
According to Charania the Mavericks organisation first presented this proposal. However, Doncic never asked for a trade despite what his organisation proposed.
The arrival of Davis creates an opportunity for Mavericks management to include centre Daniel Gafford as part of a possible trade that can take place on the 6th.
During this season Doncic recording 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists together with a 35.4% success rate on three-pointers. The statistics from Davis show 25.7 points combined with 11.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists and 2.1 blocks.
