The weather forecast is predicting possible thunderstorms in the Valencia region this weekend. It is enough to upset the European Grand Prix test.
Fourteen MotoGP riders still in contention, for the title, six of them who stand out, three races to go and a multitude of possible scenarios.
The three races will likely pass through on Sunday, but testing may not cut it off: thunderstomrs are expected in the Valencia region on Friday and Saturday. It’s could give big surprise for qualifying in Q2 as well as on the starting grid.
The French Grand Prix has shown that the rain can completely change the situation. Petronas SRT Yamaha rider Fabio Quartarao had pole position in the dry and finished 9th in the wet races, while Danilo Petrucci won in front of the rookie Alex Marquez.
“I can’t wait to be at Valencia because it was a track that was great for me last year and we were really fast there in the test on the new tyres as well.” Quartararo said.
“I’m happy to be going to a track I like with a bit of advantage, or at least wher I should struggle less than the others rahter than more.” Quartararo added.
Ducati’s Andre Dovizioso and Suzuki’s Alex Rins do not have much to lose, and will no doubt be ready. Playing with limits in the rain. Others will think above all not to make a mistake. But isn’t being too carefull when a little is at stake, also a form of risk taking.
The 2018 Valencia GP race had been suspended midway through due to heavy rain with a number of riders falling including Marc Marquez, Andrea Iannone, Andrea Dovizoso, Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinlaes in treacherous conditions.
