Belgium claimed their best finish in a world cup after victory over England in St Petersburg on Saturday. Goals from Thomas Meunier in the first half and Eden Hazard in the second put the Red Devils on their way to victory.
At the end of this part, Meunier sent a serious warning to the Paris Saint-Germain management over his form and needs to keep himself in the next season. The 26-year-old hopes to take advantage of the arrival of Thomas Tuchel to gain play time.
PSG have confirmed the appointment of Tuchel as their new coach at the end of last season. The German, who has been out of work since leaving Borussia Dortmund last summer, has succeeded Unai Emery at the Ligue 1 champions.
Indeed, Meunier has never hidden his frustration to retreat in the hierarchy last season. He was set to leave the club in January and targeted for Manchester United after PSG signed the Brazilian Dani Alves on a free transfer last summer. It meant there were three right-backs on the books of PSG.
“I hope things will change for me after this tournament. The club must show me that he really wants me and that he has a real role for me on the team,” Meunier said.
“I really like PSG, but I have a taste of unfinished Paris. I want the confidence of the club and the coach. I didn’t feel that last season.
“I think that at PSG, they realise that I made an excellent World Cup. The question is whether they doubt my abilities or not now.
“I hope they will change their tune, because I do not want to relive the same season as the last. I will not miss opportunities. PSG has already received several offers. There have always been interests for me.” Muenier added.

Meunier joined PSG from club Brugge for around £5million in 2016. He has scored 4 goals and 4 assist in 24 appearances in Ligue 1 champion for PSG last season.
During the 2018 World Cup semi-final, few players showed as many beautiful things as Meunier at the full-back position, a very clear message that decision makers at PSG should not have missed.
Meunier convinces himself: PSG does not necessarily seek a competitor for the coming season. And with the serious injury to Alves’ right knee, which could only return in 2019, the way seems clear to convince Tuchel in the coming months.
