Three Prospective Figure to Replace Solskjaer

Manchester United’s 0-1 defeat from Newcastle United on Sunday (6/10/2019) brought Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to the tide of pressure. Red Devils’ performance – nicknamed Man United – is indeed far from prime.

From the last 5 matches, Solskjaer’s team are only able to score 2 goals, and conceding 5 goals. In the English League, they are now mired in 12th place standings with 9 points.

For a club like Man United, the incision is clearly not something to be expected. Solskjaer’s position as a coach was increasingly squeezed. Now, it began to emerge a number of figures who are rumored to be potential successors.

Quoted from the Daily Star, there are at least 3 names that are believed to replace Solskjaer:

Mauricio Pochettino

The Tottenham Hotspur coach has actually been linked with Man United for a long time. However, Solskjaer’s unexpected success as an interim coach last season dashed the rumour of Pochettino to Old Trafford.

If Solskjaer is deposed, Pochettino may be tempted to end his five-year term at Spurs. However, Spurs are also in a difficult situation. After losing tragically 2-7 to Bayern Munich, the North London club also lost 0-3 to Brighton on Saturday. Yet, the 47 years old coach insists that he has chairman Daniel Levy’s full support.

Massimiliano Allegri

After leaving Juventus at the end of last season, Allegri is still an unemployed coach. With that status, Man United certainly has a great opportunity to secure Allegri’s services.

Reportedly, Tottenham boss Daniel Levy was also interested in landing Allegri to replace Pochettino. Allegri, 52, proved to be a successful championship coach to bring Juventus to a league championship 5 times in a row, and twice through the Champions League final. While Allegri was not universally liked by Juventus fans, he has earned his place in the club’s history and, statistically at least, should be considered among their greatest ever managers.

Brendan Rodgers

Rodgers is currently handling Leicester City, and is believed to be one of the attractive options for Man United if Solskjaer is deposed. He once almost brought Liverpool back to winning the English League, and had become Celtic’s coach.

The man from Northern Ireland was also successful in bringing Leicester to the 4th position this season with a collection of 14 points from 8 matches, or 5 points above Man United.
