American professional golfer Tiger Woods pleaded not guilty to charge of impaired driving on Wednesday, but agreed to participate in a DUI Offender Program, which will lead to the dropping of the charge later this year.
State attorney Adrienne Ellis said Woods agree to plead guilty to a charge of dangerous driving at a hearing on October 25 and to participate in the county program.
When asked by Amrican media, Wood’s attorney Douglas Duncan did not talk much about this case. “This case has been reset for arraignment until October 25. That’s all I can say,” Duncan said.
Under the agreement, state attorney will drop the charge of impaired driving following Wood’s arrest in May. Woods was then found asleep behind the wheel of his car, apparently under the influence of painkillers and against insomnia however he was not trace of alcohol was detected in his system.
Under this program, the 41-year-old golfer will spend one year on probation, plus to pay a fine of $ 250 and legal cost, attend drill driving awareness sessions, performs 50 hours of community services, attend a session where victims of impaired drivers explain how their lives have been affected and will also be subject to other conditions.
Since the inception of the program four years ago, 2,400 accused have participated, according to the Palm Beach County attorney’s office.
If Woods had been found guilty of driving with reduced faculties, he would have been fined between$ 500 and $ 1,000. His car would have been confiscated for ten days and would have been subject to other conditions.
