Tite Reveals Why He Rejects Offers from Top Clubs

Brazil head coach Tite spoke with The Guardian newspaper and revealed details about previous offers he had from top clubs.

The 61-year-old coach insisted that the focus was on the Brazilian team’s performance at the 2018 World Cup, which was why he didn’t want to hear much of the offers he had on hand.

“I like it when a European club is interested in a professional and they always have a conversation to explain what they need. This is very good.” Tite said.

“There was a club that wanted to talk to me right away and I said no, that initially it was PSG [after leaving by Unai Emery]. I didn’t want to, I didn’t. I didn’t want to open up that possibility of something else. I wanted to concentrate on my work. Then it’s another story,” he added.

Tite has hit back at the claims, insisting he is not in line to replace Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid in 2018 summer.

“Another example. Real Madrid said they wanted to talk and I said ‘no, I won’t talk, don’t come close’. I want to be at peace with myself and my work. I’m doing my best. I can’t do that.” Tie said.

“I received offers, before the World Cup, from Real Madrid, PSG and Sporting. But I didn’t want that. I wanted to win the World Cup. After the World Cup, I would decide my future,” Tite added.

Brazil have already qualified for FIFA World Cup 2022 as a top team in the 10-nation South American group.

“We reached the World Cup; now it’s time to reach the final and be champions. This is the truth.” Tite said.

“At the last World Cup I was the manager because of other circumstances [Dunga was fired in 2016 and Tite took over]. Now I have had the opportunity to do the full four-year cycle. Expectations are high but the focus is on work.” he added.
