Top Ten Youngest MotoGP Champion

Fabio Quartararo managed to lock the 2021 MotoGP world title at the Emilia Romagna GP race. The 22-year-old rider was also included in the list of the 10 youngest riders to become MotoGP world champions.

Fabio Quartararo was only able to finish in fourth place in the Emilia Romagna MotoGP race which was held at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, Sunday (10/24/2021). Despite failing to take the podium, Emilia Romagna’s MotoGP result was enough for Quartararo to seal the world title this season. Because, Quartararo’s closest competitor, Francesco Bagnaia, crashed while leading the Emilia Romagna MotoGP race.

With an additional 13 points from Emilia Romagna’s fourth MotoGP finish, Fabio Quartararo is now firmly at the top of the riders’ standings with 267 points. With only two series remaining in the 2021 season, the collection of Quartararo points in the MotoGP standings can no longer be pursued by Francesco Bagnaia (202).

Undertaking his first season with the Yamaha factory team, Fabio Quartararo showed a good performance in MotoGP 2021. Quartararo’s impressive appearance this season seemed like due to he wanted to repay for his poor performance last season. Last season he ended in eighth place.

Until the last series at Misano, the racer nicknamed El Diablo managed to record five victories and 10 podium finishes. Quartararo became the first French rider to become a MotoGP world champion.

“I still can’t believe it. I can’t even speak at the moment,” Quartararo said after the race. “This is my dream come true. I am very happy that my family is also here. We will celebrate soon,” added Quartararo.

Entering the list of the youngest MotoGP world champions, Fabio Quartararo became the MotoGP world champion at the age of 22 years 187 days. This makes him included in the list of the 10 youngest drivers who are able to become premier class world champions.

Quartararo is ranked sixth in the list of the 10 youngest MotoGP world champions. Quartararo’s age record when he won the MotoGP world title even surpassed Valentino Rossi. Rossi became the MotoGP world champion for the first time at the age of 22 years 240 days, precisely in 2001 when the premier class race was still called the GP500. Quartararo also passed the age record of last season’s MotoGP world champion, Joan Mir (23 years 240 days).

Meanwhile, the record for the youngest MotoGP world champion is currently held by Marc Marquez. Marc Marquez, who is the winner of the 2021 Emilia Romagna MotoGP race, managed to become world champion for the first time in 2013. When he won the 2013 MotoGP, Marc Marquez was only 20 years 266 days old. Here is a list of the 10 youngest riders to become MotoGP world champions:
