Tristan Thompson said he Wants to see the LeBron James and Kyrie Irving play together again. The former pivot believed that one can get the best out of basketball from the other.
James and Irving formed one of the most iconic teams in the NBA in recent years. The two managed the Cleveland Cavaliers, after all, in winning the unprecedented league title in 2016.
“I have been advocating for this partnership to go back for a long time, as they are a perfect duo. I believe that one gets the best out of the other on the court.” Thompson said.
“Seeing a pick-and-roll with both of them was beautiful because they are such dynamic and great athletes in many ways. Together, then, they were almost unstoppable.” Thompson added.
James and Irving were together in Cleveland for three seasons, alongside Thompson. It was certainly the most successful break in the team’s history. They reached the NBA Finals every season, clinching the aforementioned championship.
The former player does not want to believe that the story of the partnership between these two stars will only last for these three years.
“This duo could happen again because they are two stars that really grow with each other, and I feel like it certainly didn’t end the way it should have.” Thompson said.
“It’s not over yet for me. There are more chapters in this duo’s story as they can work magic together. I really hope it happens.” he added.
The end of the partnership, like everything else in Irving’s career, is complicated. Thompson asked, at the time, to be traded by the franchise without giving concrete explanations about the decision.
The news of his desire to leave left the league in shock, as it came on the heels of yet another finale with the Cavs.
