US Athletes Unite to Demand Justice of the Death of George Floyd

The death of George Floyd made a number of United States athletes such as LeBron James and Alex Morgan cast a vote demanding justice for the completion of the case.

NBA stars become a vocal troupe for this case. Carmelo Anthony considers this case to be thoroughly investigated so that black US citizens are no longer victims.

“Is being black a form of intimidation? Is it our strength they fear? Or is it our specialty or uniqueness?”

“How do we continue to explain this situation to our children? I don’t see the American Dream but an American Nightmare. I will not be able to keep quiet. WE WILL ALWAYS HEAR! JUSTICE FOR GEORGE,” Anthony said.

LeBron James also voiced by re-uploading photos when he was wearing a T-shirt that said ‘I can’t breath’ with the caption ‘Still’ written on it.

The phrase ‘I can’t breathe’ is called out of George Floyd’s mouth when his neck is crushed by the police knee.

NBA legend, Magic Johnson also did not miss speaking.

“George Floyd was clearly killed by members of the Minneapolis police. How much more do we have to see black people being killed? This has been going on for a long time.”

“We have to see black people as human beings rather than animals on the streets,” Johnson said.

United States tennis star Sloane Stephens also expressed sympathy for the tragic events that had befallen George Floyd.

“Pray for all those who suffer the fate of George Floyd and their loved ones who are victims of police brutality. It is truly heartbreaking and disgusting to continue to be seen.”

“This cannot continue and we must take part,” Stephens said.

Strong reaction was not only present from black athletes. Joe Burrow, an American Football star, hopes human rights are upheld in this issue.

“The black community needs our help. They haven’t been heard for a long time. Open ears, listen and talk. It’s not about politics. It’s about human rights,” Burrow said.

US women’s national team star, Alex Morgan is also sad to see the tragedy that befell George Floyd.

“When are all Americans treated equally regardless of race and gender? We want true leadership and openness from above,” Alex Morgan said.

George Floyd died on Monday (5/24). Floyd was arrested by police officers with a mild suspicion for allegedly using counterfeit money to shop at a supermarket.

Floyd was arrested by the police and his neck pressed by his knees.

“Your knees are on my neck. I can’t breathe. Mama. Mama,” said Floyd begging for mercy.

Soon he was silent and his body did not move. He did not react when the officer asked him to stand up and get in the car.

George was taken to the hospital, but his life was beyond help. He was declared dead. The incident immediately sparked outrage in the United States through large-scale demonstrations.

Derek Chauvin, the US police accused of carrying out the murder of George Floyd has been formally detained.
