US Judge Orders Tyson Fury to Face Deontay Wilder for a Trilogy Fight

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua could be cancelled as Fury ordered to fight the former WBC worlf heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

According to reports, a US judge on Monday ruled in mediation that Wilder has a right to face Fury for a thrilogy fight before September 15, 2021.

Wilder knocked out by Fury in the seventh round at MGM Garden, Las Vegas, in February 2020. Both men were indeed supposed to face each other last July, but Wilder was unable to fight due to an alleged injury.

Fury insisted that Wilder then wanted the date moved to December 19, which he was prepared to accept.

In January, the fight was postponed due to Covid-19 meant that the fight never materialised, neither in the summer nor before Christmas. But the British boxer refused the 2021 date and said he would move on.

Fury is now in negotiations to face Joshua in a heavyweight title-unification bout. The showdown is likely to take place in Saudi Arabia.

“I have got some massive news. I have just got off the phone with Prince Khalid of Saudi Arabia and he told me this fight is 100% on, 14 August.” Fury said on his Twitter video

Meanwhile Fury’s promoter Frank Warren said his side are working hard to get a thrilogy fight if Fury and Joshua fight cancelled.

“Until we can reach an accommodation with Deontay Wilder’s people, I can’t say that [Fury’s fight with Joshua] will definitely happen,” Warren said.

“But we are working hard to get that over the line. We were talking last night and hopefully we can do that. If not then Tyson, if he wishes, will go to the fight with Wilder. They’re the only two options.” Warren added.
