US President Donald Trump on Sunday said that he regretted having intervened to release three UCLA men’s basketball players arrested in China for shoplifting, after visibly reacting to statements made by LaVar Ball on Friday that downplayed the president’s role in the release of his son.
Trump claimed he personally intervened with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to intercede for young players during his tour of Asia.
“I should have left them in jail. Now that the three basketball players are out of China and saved from years in prison, LaVar Ball, LiAngelo’s father doesn’t want to know what I did for his son and considers the theft to the show is not serious,” Trump said.
Trump had previously accused by LaVar Ball over about his son case during in China. He believes Trump wants to make everyone believe what he has done.
“Everyone wants to make him believe he’s done me a favor. I’m from Los Angeles. I’ve seen worse things than a guy getting a pair of glasses.” LaVar Ball said to ESPN.
“It is a very unfortunate situation that the Ball family and UCLA has to deal at this particular time. We will comment shortly. My son will be fine. Everyone making it a big deal, it ain’t that big of a deal.” he added.
As we know, LiAbgelo Ball is the middle son in the Ball family. His younger brother LaMelo Ball is expected to play at UCLA when he becomes college eligible. His brother Lonzo is currently players for the Lakers.
