It is latest today that Gianni Infantino has denied his promise of US to hold 2026 World Cup. According to him, now the country who wins the election will be given the chance to organize FIFA World Cup 2026. Sunil Gulati, the head of US Soccer Federation made his vote switched to Infantino during the second round of voting held on Friday. The Swiss said, “I spoke with many delegates… trying to tell them that they should vote for football and for me”.
27 extra votes were picked by Uefa General Secretary Infantino during the voting’s second round. On Friday, Gulati said, “We told Gianni that we would support Prince Ali but also gave him the assurance that when it mattered we would be with him.”
Bidding processes for the 2026 World Cup were postponed in the summer in the midst of a debasement crisis that has immersed Fifa since last May. That decision was taken after the way the 2018 and 2022 tournaments were granted, to Russia and Qatar, turned out to be a piece of a progressing Swiss criminal investigation. Active President Sepp Blatter has suggested there was a vote for Russia to host the 2018 occasion before the vote occurred.
Infantino said, “Seriously, first is the reforms. So, I will go up to the office and start looking at how to implement these reforms so that we can hopefully very soon concentrate on football. We have to look forward. You have to start as of now to live the reforms. Already, as of now, and for the future, so there’ll be no issues anymore. As for the past we have to make sure we co-operate fully with the authorities to ensure everything comes out if something has happened.”
The reforms incorporate restricting the president to three terms in office, the disclosure of salaries, and supplanting Fifa’s present official advisory group with another chamber including a female representative from every confederation. Blatter’s resignation last year, in the midst of defilement allegations that prompted a six-year restriction from football, incited Friday’s remarkable congress and decision. Speaking to the BBC, Infantino also insisted that upgrading the structure and running of Fifa taking after the crisis must be “actualized from the very beginning, quickly”. He begins his part on Monday and says key reforms passed in Zurich to make Fifa more transparent and accountable are his need.
