Jay Idzes admitted that Genoa played smartly when they beat Venezia with a score of 0-2 in the Italian League match, Tuesday (18/2).
Jay Idzes asked his teammates to use all their abilities so that Venezia can be saved from the threat of relegation in the Italian League.
The defeat at Genoa’s headquarters makes Venezia still struggling to get out of the relegation zone. The team coached by Eusebio Di Francesco is still slumped in 19th place in the standings and has only won 16 points.
Venezia have only collected 16 points from 25 matches. Eusebio Di Francesco’s team is five points behind Empoli who occupy the safe zone in 17th place.
“Now we have 13 matches left and we have to give everything, starting with the next home match against Lazio,” said Jay Idzes.
“We need to bring home points because from now until the end of the season, every match and every point will be crucial,” added the Indonesian National Team player.
Regarding the defeat suffered by Genoa, Jay Idzes could not hide his disappointment. I Leoni Alati, Venezia’s nickname, suffered a defeat because of two goals scored by the host in the last 10 minutes of the second half.
Genoa opened the lead through Andrea Pinamonti’s goal in the 82nd minute. Four minutes later, Maxwel Cornet scored the second goal for Genoa which made Venezia bite their fingers.
“We played a good game even though we had difficulty converting opportunities in front of goal. They were good at punishing us in two situations, even though we defended well for 80 minutes,” he said.
“In the first half, we played with quality, creating several chances to take the lead, while in the second half we found it more difficult,” he said again.
Venezia will face Lazio in the 26th week of the Italian League, Saturday (22/2). This will be another difficult match because Lazio’s performance is quite good this season, occupying the fifth position in the standings.
