Verstappen wants F1 to start early

Verstappen on Belgian GP farce

Max Verstappen, Red Bull Formula 1 driver, won the two-lap grand prix at Spa-Francorchamps.

The race started after three hours of delay following a downpour on Sunday. The field went on track behind a safety car and remained on track before it was called off.

F1 and FIA decided to complete legal requirements so that the results could be announced. It handed half points as per regulations, which helped Verstappen score 12.5.

Currently, Lewis Hamilton leads the drivers’ championship standings. However, lead was shortened at Belgian Grand Prix to only three points.

Nonetheless, Verstappen said that it was not how he wanted to win. Officials have faced harsh criticism over the weekend for running the race only to meet legal requirements.

FIA and F1 bosses opened up to the situation and has welcomed everyone to engage in regulations modification. The three hours delay will also be discussed which has been highlighted.

Verstappen Skepticism

Verstappen questioned the decision to delay the race. He has pointed whether the race could have been started earlier to complete the race.

“When you start at 3 o’clock, and you have days like this, maybe it’s better to start a bit earlier, at 12 or 1 o’clock,” Verstappen said.

“I think that’s a better time anyway to start, for me. Now it’s just dragging on and on and the weather just gets worse and worse. It gets dark.”

Verstappen asked whether the race could be rescheduled for a valid race and to provide the fans an opportunity to witness before them.

“We already do too many races, so we should pick the proper tracks, of course, first of all, the good ones,” Verstappen said.

“To come back again here [this year], I don’t see that happening, especially when you already have 22 races.”
