Vettel: Ferrari’s only way back to F1 is through title

Sebastian Vettel has taken a leap back from perception of Ferrari being back to its form.

German driver has expressed his expectations for Ferrari.

He considers the “only way for Ferrari to be back” in Formula 1 is title victory. He also admits that it might be “very harsh judgement” but it is what he believes.

Ferrari was able to break chain win-less races in Spa. Leclerc made to pole position in last three grand prix.

The team came back with more potential expectedly at their favorite tracks in Spa and Monza. The new changes made them win at Italian GP after straight nine years.

However, Singapore performance has shook many after Ferrari managed to win third consecutive GP.

Ferrari return to its form is a little late because of advantage that Mercedes enjoy from winning most races in first half of the season.

But current form of the team has got its fans more charged with high expectations next season.

Vettel said: “I’ve been around for a while now with Ferrari and I think there’s only one way for Ferrari to be back which is when we win the championship.

“That’s a very harsh judgement but that’s what it is, that’s the reality.

“We’re working very hard on that. I think this year will be very, very difficult to turn things around with the current form that Mercedes has for the last 15 races or 14 races.

“We keep fighting because anything we learn this year will help us next year, so the bits we brought here [to Singapore] obviously are positive in terms of also looking to next year’s direction and development.

“But we need more. We want to be the best team, which currently we are not.

“The last races have been good for us, so that’s great for our self-confidence inside the team and for everyone, but there’s still a lot of work ahead of us.”

Currently, Ferrari is trailing Mercedes by 133 points in constructors’ championship. While Leclerc is at third position alongside Max Verstappen with 200 points. Vettel currently stands at fifth with 194 points.

“It will be difficult [to end the season] because I’m pretty sure that the other teams will bring some upgrades too in the next few races,” said Leclerc while realizing others effort to compete.
