Vettel trust Ferrari over Car speculations

Vettel believes to have an identical Car

Sebastian Vettel renounced speculations regarding different machines for himself and his team mate Charles Leclerc.

Speculations suggested that Ferrari has handed two different F1 cars to its drivers. The claims were supported from performance gap between the two.

Leclerc was successful in managing to improve his position in qualifying and finishing the race at fourth position. However, Vettel struggled at Algarve International Circuit with his Ferrari SF1000.

The German fell to 15th position during qualifying, but he managed to finish 10th in the race. He has been struggling with score this season and only been able to manage 18.

During Portuguese Grand Prix, Vettel commented over team radio, which fired speculations. His comments were interpreted as that Lerlerc has been given a better car than him.

Vettel and Binotto on F1 Cars

Mattia Binotto, Ferrari Team Principal, was speedy in denouncing the suggestion. Vettel affirmed Binotto’s notion. He expressed his confidence on the team that he have the same opportuntity as his team mate.

“Well I think I have to think that we have the same car,” Vettel said.

“I trust the people around me and in the garage. I have one thing that is obviously told by the stopwatch and the lap times, and the other one is by my feeling.

“Feeling-wise, I really struggle to get the good laps together, be consistent and feel the grip that maybe Charles is able to feel, so I’m working on it.

“But there’s nothing else other than work that will get me out of it.”

Vettel is moving to Aston Martin at the end of 2020. He wants to complete his time at Italian team with “dignity”.

The German currently lags behind his team mate at 13th position on drivers’ championship. Leclerc holds fifth position behind Daniel Ricciardo.

Vettel wants to make the best out of his time at Ferrari.

“I think together with the team around me, I’ll try to make the maximum, and hopefully we are in a bit better place next week,” Vettel said.

“Obviously our weakness at the moment is the Saturday. On Sunday, we are struggling because we are always in the pack. It’s a very difficult race from then and very different, so probably not always the best sort of comparison.”
