Real Madrid’s young star Vinicius Jr believes his career growth is on the right track and hopes to soon catch up to the top level of talents his age like Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland.
The Brazilian striker has scored 12 goals and added 5 assists in 22 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos in the 2021/22 season.
“Reaching to Haaland’s level or Mbappe is not easy because they are great players, always scoring a lot of goals, providing assists and playing the best football. But I also want to be there.” Vinicius said.
“To reach that level, I still have to work very hard. You need calm and patience to do the best things in the right way. But if I continue like this, and can help the team succeed, then of course I’ll be one of the best.” Vinicius added.
Vinicius has kept his place in Real’s attack since the arrival of coach Carlo Ancelotti last summer. The 24-year-old striker has admitted that he becomes much better under the Italian coach.
“Ancelotti and his staff have made it very clear to us, that we have to work smart for the team to play the best, and I feel like with every step we take, we’re getting better and better.” Vinicius said.
“The unity of this team is great. And of course, you’re lucky to play alongside Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Casemiro or Karim Benzema, players who have won everything in their careers and want to keep winning. They gave me experience and that calmed me down to do what I’m doing now.” he added.
Real will be hoping Vinicius can continue his strong form on Sunday when they host defending champions Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
