The captain of the Belgium national team, Eden Hazard is expected to be able to provide a magic touch at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
With Real Madrid at club level, Eden Hazard seems to have lost its light.
This time, the 2022 World Cup is a place to prove to the former Chelsea striker that he is not finished yet.
Comments on Hazard’s progress ahead of the inaugural match at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar were delivered by full-back Timothy Castagne as quoted by SportReviews from the AFP page.
The 31-year-old forward has suffered an injury that has disappointed him during his three years at Madrid.
This made him fail to meet expectations of him after seven years of playing brilliantly with Chelsea.
He has struggled to hold on to his place in the first team or find his best form.
It is noted that Hazard has only been sent down as a starter by Real Madrid this season.
Even though since the end of last season, he has started as a starter in six out of seven matches for the Belgium national team.
Castagne asked fans not to expect too much from Hazard.
“For Belgium, the fans want to rediscover Eden’s form several years ago,” said Castagne.
“It’s not easy to come here without the rhythm of the game, so it takes time. He won’t be there right away (at his best).”
Hazard was a key part of the Belgium team that reached the World Cup semi-finals in Russia four years ago.
Hazard managed to score two goals in a 5-2 win over Tunisia and another in a 2-0 win over England.
A year later he moved from London to Madrid for a fee of 100 million euros plus bonuses which would make him Real Madrid’s most expensive signing of all time.
But the move didn’t go as he had hoped.
Hazard was even an unused substitute when Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0 in the Champions League last May.
Hazard admits he could leave Real Madrid at the end of the season.
However, Hazard admits that he still hopes to be successful with Real Madrid.
He will need a great performance in the World Cup.
Hazard is determined to convince Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti to give him another regular place or renew his expiring contract in the next 18 months.
