According to promoter, Frank Warren, there is a strong desire among people to witness a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
However, before that can happen, there is a rematch against Oleksandr Usyk that needs to take place due to a rematch clause.
“People will want to see Fury against Joshua, but first there would be the rematch against Usyk because there’s a rematch clause,” Warren said.
“There’s a lot of money involved and I can’t see whoever loses the fight on Saturday will walk away from the second one.
“It would take a lot of money to make Usyk step aside to make the Joshua fight happen. A lot of money because it’s a huge purse. If it doesn’t happen then the winner will fight Joshua in February next year.” Warren added.
Standing tall as the WBC champion since his victorious bout against Deontay Wilder in 2020, Tyson Fury holds a significant advantage over Usyk in terms of height and reach.
Fury’s towering figure enjoys a six-inch height advantage, complemented by an impressive extra seven inches in reach.
According to Frank Warren, it is crucial for the ‘Gypsy King’ to capitalise on his physical attributes when facing Usyk.
Additionally, Warren points out an important event in Usyk’s career – his ninth-round stoppage of Daniel Dubois in 2023.
During this match, Usyk found himself on the canvas in the fifth round, following what was controversially deemed a low blow from the Londoner.
In summary, Fury’s towering presence, combined with his reach advantage, sets the stage for an intriguing clash against Usyk.
Warren emphasised the importance of Fury leveraging his size while also acknowledging Usyk’s past experiences, including his fight against Dubois. This sets the stage for an enticing battle between two formidable fighters
