Ryan Gravenberch officially joined Bayern Munich in the summer transfer market of 2022. He also revealed the reasons for choosing Bayern over Manchester United who were also interested in him.
As is known, Gravenberch joined Bayern from Ajax Amsterdam. The Dutchman was bound by a five-year contract by Bayern.
Apart from Bayern, Gravenberch is also on Man United’s target list. Because Gravenberch’s tactician at Ajax last season, Erik Ten Hag, is now coaching Man United.
However, Ten Hag hopes of reuniting with Gravenberch at Old Trafford vanished. Gravenberch prefers Bayern uniform next season.
Gravenberch revealed that has promised Bayern in the past. Therefore, he rejected Man United and joined the German giants.
“Manchester United is a very big and beautiful club. However, I already have good feelings at Bayern and I have given my promise,” Gravenberch said, quoted by Goal International, Tuesday (14/6/2022).
“My choice was actually made quite quickly. In October I met with Coach Julian Nagelsmann, Head of Sport Hasan Salihamidzic and Technical Director Marco Neppe at a hotel in Schiphol. The plan they made for me makes sense.”
Naturally, Gravenberch became a bone of contention for Bayern and Man United. Because the performance of the Dutch midfielder was very slick during the Ajax uniform. Moreover, Gravenberch is still 20 years old so it can develop even better.
When it reaches its maximum potential, Gravenberch will become a mainstay for Bayern and the Dutch national team in the future.
