Manchester City has had a dream run this season they have finally concluded their UEFA Champions League journey with a victory over Inter Milan in the finals at Istanbul this month. The club which has had an under performance throughout its career has suddenly come out as one of the leading and most successful football clubs in the world right now.
Now having their sights set on the next season of tournaments, the team is looking forward to adding some more star-studded players into their already strong line up. The club is keen on signing in Declan Rice from West Ham, who has been in prime form this season and had a commendable run in the Champions League season. The West Ham skipper is now in prime demand as two leading football clubs, Arsenal and Manchester City are about to enter a bidding battle to get him in.
As per sources from the circuit, Manchester City is in constant talks with Declan Rice’s manager and are seeking assurances from him as they prepare to compete with Arsenal in the race to sign him to the team. While Arsenal has already been into talks with West Ham for finalizing Rice’s transfer since this summer’s transfer window, their two offers so far have been rejected by West Ham.
According to reports, Arsenal last bid of £75 million + £15 million in add-ons, was still not enough to please the West Ham side, who have currently set a £100 million valuation for Rice. The two back to back failed bidding attempts have prompted Manchester City to make their move and the Premier League champions are now apparently ready to submit a rival offer.
When it comes to Rice’s preference, he has previously shown some interest in joining the Gunners. However, that was before Manchester City’s desire to join the bidding had been made public. Now it would be a tough decision to make for Rice, given the tremendous form Manchester City has been this past year, having won a trio of major tournaments in a single season.
Manchester City first finished on top of the rankings in the league stages of the recently concluded Champions League season, beating the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid, and other on their way to the top. The team already has a solid midfield line up that includes Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne, while Mateo Kovacic is looking set to replace Ilkay Gundogan’s position.
On the other side, Arsenal is currently on the verge of closing a £65m deal for bring in striker Kai Havertz from Chelsea. Once that is done, they will probably be looking to crack a deal with the Wet Ham skipper, hopefully in time before Man. City takes him away!
