Without Ronaldo, Madrid won First Victory in LaLiga

Real Madrid beat Getafe 2-0 in their first match in La Liga 2018/2019 competition at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Monday (8/20) early morning.

The match was the first for Madrid in La Liga without the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo who had given many titles to the Spanish capital club.

Even without Ronaldo, Madrid can still play well for 90 minutes. Ronaldo’s absence in the composition of players has made other Madrid players show their qualities like Marco Asensio and Isco. Most importantly, Gareth Bale’s performance in this match is clearly visible. Because, all this time the Wales player has always been in the shadow of Ronaldo.

In the 16th minute Gareth Bale had a golden opportunity to bring Madrid ahead. Unfortunately Bale’s header utilizing Marcelo’s pass only drifted thinly over Getafe’s crossbar. The new goal from Madrid was created in the 20th minute through Dani Carvajal. The Los Blancos right-back scored with a header using a ball which goalkeeper David Soria failed to clear.

After waiting, the game belongs entirely to Madrid. The defending Champions League champions have 75 percent of possession until midway through the first half. Despite being a rear guard, Marcelo was quite diligent in helping the Los Blancos attack. In the 32nd minute the Brazilian sent a pulling pass which Ble could not use to score. Towards the end of the first half, Madrid pressed Getafe more from the left side through Bale.

In the 51st minute Gareth Bale added to Madrid’s lead. The goal began with Marco Asensio’s drag on the left side. The Asensio operation was not completely disposed of by Getafe defender. Finally, the wild ball was easily shot by Bale with his left foot on Getafe’s goal.

Three minutes after Bale’s goal, Asensio had the chance to make Madrid even further away. However, Asensio’s hard kick from outside the penalty box hit the right post of the opponent’s goal.

In the 75th minute there was no penalty for Madrid, even though Asensio was dropped by Getafe players. In replays, Getafe players like pushing Asensio’s body in the penalty box, but referee Xavier Estrada continues the game.

No more goals are created until the match ends. Score remains 2-0 to win Madrid.
