The Italian Serie A champions Juventus have named Arsenal goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny as Gianluigi Buffon’s replacement on Tuesday. Juventus and Arsenal are in the final stages to complete the transfer deal. If he passed the medical test,Szczesny will sign a long-term contract and will earn 4 millions euros per season.
Previously, Juventus will only to make Szczesny as a backup goalkeeper. But if the main goalkeeper Buffon to retire, Szczesby is set to take the main goalkeeper in the first squad. Norberto Neto is currently known as Buffon’s deputy during the 2016/17 season.
At the end of 2017 Champions League final, the legendary Italian goalkeeper Buffon announced that he would retire from football after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Speaking to Sky Sport 24 several months ago, the 39-year-old said that next season will be his last season as a professional football player.
“Yes, we can say that it will be 99.9%. I am going to enjoy a last season intense and full of important meetings and then it will be a time to quit,” Buffon said.
“I left only an open with Juventus president (Andrea Agnelli), if next year we won the European Cup, I would play one more season to try to get the Club World Cup and other trophies,” he added.
Buffon almost led his team to win 2017 Champions League on June at Cardiff, however his team was trashing 4-1 against Spanish giants Real Madrid. After staying very long at Juve, Buffon named two great goalkeepers as his successor, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Wojciech Azczesny.
Previously, the Polish newspaper said that Szczesny’s vacation slowing the negotiation between Juventus and his agent Davis Manasses. However, he talked with his agent and discussed the potential transfer.

The Old Lady have been impressed by Szczesny performances at AS Roma in recent seasons. The 27-year-old goalkeeper was a regular starter and helped Roma finish third in Serie A in 2016 and second last season. However, Roma have no desire to keep the talented player, in the next season, they seem to be relying on 24-year-old goalkeeper Ramses Becker from Brazil
