World Cup Qualification: Messi sends Argentina beat Uruguay

Argentina won 3-0 over Uruguay in the CONMEBOL 2022 World Cup Qualifiers at the Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti Stadium, Sunday (10/10).

Uruguay visitors immediately kicked off since the early minutes. In the sixth minute Uruguay had a scoring opportunity which goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez could still counter. Luis Suarez kick from a narrow angle on the right side can be pushed over by Martinez.

Argentina tried to reply to Uruguay’s attack through Giovani Lo Celso’s kick in the ninth minute, but still deviated on the left side of the Uruguay goal which was guarded by Fernando Muslera.

Luis Suerez again provided a threat to Argentina in the 21st minute. This time the Atletico Madrid striker had a chance through a left-footed volley, but again, Martinez was denied.

Lautaro Martinez wasted an Argentine goal opportunity in the 26th minute. The Inter Milan striker could not take advantage of a cross from the right after his flick was wide on the right side of the Uruguay goal.

Uruguay dominated the attack in this match. The visitors spread more threats than La Albiceleste.

Suarez kick in the 28th minute still hit the post. The rebound also failed to be put to good use by other players after being blocked by the Argentine defense.

Despite continued pressure from Uruguay, Argentina could take the lead in the 38th minute through Lionel Messi’s kick after taking advantage of Giovani Lo Celso’s assist.

Just before half-time, Argentina doubled the position to 2-0 thanks to Rodrigo De Paul’s goal in the 44th minute from Lautaro Martinez’s pass.

Argentina almost took a 3-0 lead if Lautaro Martinez’s left-footed shot, using a cross from the left, was not saved by Muslera.

In the second half Argentina dominated the attack. Team Tango’s effort to increase the advantage was created in the 62nd minute through Lautaro Martinez’s flick from Lo Celso’s bait.

Fernando Muslera made a brilliant save in the 68th minute by denying Nicolas Tagliafico’s shot.

Messi’s curling kick from outside the penalty box in the 80th minute was still thin on the right side of the Uruguay goal.

Without additional goals in the remaining matches, Argentina won 3-0 over Uruguay.

Lionel Messi has better statistics with Argentina than Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after against Uruguay.

The goal against Uruguay was Messi’s fourth with Argentina since moving to PSG on August 10. Before breaking into Uruguay’s goal, La Pulga scored a hat trick against Bolivia in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers.

Not only superior in the number of goals, Messi’s prowess is more prominent in Argentina seen in the ratio of goals. Messi’s four goals with La Albiceleste were scored in three games.

Meanwhile, Messi has only scored one goal for Les Parisiens in five games with PSG. Messi’s only goal at PSG was scored against Manchester City in the Champions League.

Accompanied by a number of stars such as Neymar and Kylian Mbappe made it difficult for Messi to perform optimally at PSG. Previously, coach Mauricio Pochettino said that Messi’s collaboration with Neymar and Mbappe in the MNM Trio took time.

Pochettino said the obstacle in PSG’s MNM Trio was matching the quality of Mbappe with the duo of Messi and Neymar.
