World Cup Qualifying Results: Turkey and Netherlands Wins

The Turkish national team managed to continue their brilliant strides in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers by beating Norway 3-0. In other matches, Netherlands and Croatia also won.

Turkey was already ahead when the game had only been running for four minutes through Ozan Tufan. Tufan appeared from the second line to welcome the wild ball. Tufan’s left-footed shot was unable to be dammed by the Norwegian goalkeeper, Rune Almenning Jarstein.

In the 28th minute, Turkey doubled the lead to 2-0 through Caglar Soyuncu. The Turkish defender maximized Yusuf Yazici’s bait to thrill the Norwegian goal.

At the start of the second half, Norway decided to replace their goalkeeper with Andre Hansen. However, that did not make Norway’s appearance any better. Turkey can score the third goal, back through Ozan Tufan in the 59th minute.

Tufan fired a shot from outside the penalty box in the left corner of the Norwegian goal.

Norway replied one minute later through Erling Haaland’s goal, which took advantage of Soerloth’s pass. However, the 20-year-old striker was caught offside first.

Red Card! Norway was forced to play with 10 players in the 80th minute. Substitute Kristian Thorstvedt was sent off for a dangerous foul on Caner Erkin.

Superior in the number of players, Turkey is trying to increase the advantage in the remaining time available. But until the game is over, the 3-0 score for Senol Gunes’ squad has not changed.

Still in the Group G match, Netherlands finally picked up the first points in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Netherlands beat Latvia with a score. Netherlands opened the scoring through Steven Berghuis in the 32nd minute.

This goal against Latvia is Berghuis’ first goal for the Dutch national team. This goal was created beautifully through a left footed shot which sent the ball into the top right corner of the Latvian goal.

The Netherlands’ additional goal was only created in the 69th minute through Luuk de Jong.

Netherland are dominant with 77 percent possession of the ball, 36 kicks (11 on target) resulting in goals from Steven Berghuis (32 ‘) and Luuk de Jong (69’). Despite winning, the Netherlands were originally able to score more goals with the opportunities and possession they had.

In the meantime, in the group G competition map, the Netherlands is in third place with three points, behind Turkey (six points), Montenegro (six points), and above Norway (three points), Latvia and Gibraltar which have yet to score points.

Meanwhile in Group H, Croatia managed to pick three points through the victory over Cyprus. Croatia only won 1-0 through goals from Mario Pasalic.
