Tennis News: The Charleston Open (Volvo Car Open) which is scheduled to be held on April 4 – 12 in Charleston, South Carolina will not be held.
The Charleston Open, The change in schedule occurred because it considered health problems caused by COVID-19, better known as the corona virus.
“Considering the safety and health of the corona virus, as well as restrictions on travel to enter the US from Europe, the Miami Open and the Volvo Car Open in Charleston will not be hold this season,” said WTA leader Steve Simon.
“Nothing is more important than protecting the health of our tennis players, staff, volunteers and fans who come to our tournament. We feel disappointed, but the decision has been made by considering public health and safety, which are the top priority. The WTA in collaboration with the players and leaders of each tournament will make a decision in the week leading up to the clay-court season in Europe.”

While Volvo Car Open tournament director Bob Moran said, “The teams involved in Volvo Car Open, including staff, partners, sponsors, and more than 300 volunteers, naturally felt very disappointed that we had to cancel the Volvo Car Open 2020.”
“We use the time to understand all of our choices, one of which is to play without fans after we know that tennis players who are still in the US want to play. It is important for us to see if that is possible, because we realize that playing tennis is one of their professions and we want to support them as much as possible. “
