Xavi Hernandez Extend Ousmane Dembele Contract

Ousmande Dembele

Barcelona’s new coach, Xavi Hernandez, has great faith in Ousmane Dembele and is determined to keep him in the squad. Xavi even got rid of the fact that Dembele was often injured.

It is known, Xavi has just been officially introduced as the new coach of Barcelona. In his press conference, Xavi also had the first demands for Barcelona. Interestingly, he wants Ousmane Dembele to be extended and get a new contract.

As is known, Dembele’s tenure at the Blaugrana -the nickname of Barcelona- is about to end. Given, his contract will expire in June 2022 after he was brought to Camp Nou from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

Therefore, Xavi hopes that the fast player from France will get a new contract and stay under his care. That way, Dembele entered the game scheme that he would implement at the Catalan club.

“It is very clear to me that Dembele must continue at Barcelona. His renewal is a priority,” Xavi was quoted as saying by Marca, Tuesday (9/11/2021).

His desire to extend Dembele’s contract is not without reason. From his point of view, the former Dortmund striker has good qualities to be a differentiator in the Catalan camp. In fact, he claims that his foster children can become the world’s top players.

“For me, Dembele can become the best in the world in his position by working. He can become the best player in the world in his position as a winger and we have to help him achieve that. He is a footballer who can make a difference at Barcelona.”

On the other hand, Xavi is well aware that the player he admires often gets injuries that make him sidelined. Even so, he seems to have pocketed his way so that Dembele is not like a glass leg.

“You have to help him so he doesn’t get injured. We have to help him with injury prevention so he doesn’t have more injuries and do it by working in the gym.”
