Zak Brown appointed as new McLaren executive director

In a recent move in the world of motorsports American marketing executive, Zak Brown has been appointed as the executive director of the McLaren Technology Group. Zak has brought numerous top sponsors into Formula One motor racing and is known for his efforts, hard work and his passion for Formula One motor racing. Brown who is the former head of CSM Sport & Entertainment had been linked to this position after Ron Dennis was forced out as chairman and chief executive of McLaren last week.
In a statement released by McLaren it said: “In this senior role, Zak’s appointment will be a significant part of a restructuring programme that will align the Group’s commercial and strategic operations relating to achieving success in Formula 1.” After this, even Brown said “Having worked closely with McLaren for many years, I’ve been struck by the talent and ambition of the entire workforce, and I very much look forward to complementing the business’s many existing strengths and building on them to drive future success in everything we do.
“…I’ll be able to combine my absolute passion with my unparalleled area of expertise – respectively motorsport and marketing – while ensuring that the two stay totally aligned.”

With the appointment of Brown as an executive director now both Brown and CEO, Jonathan Neale will be reporting directly to the Group’s Executive Committee and would jointly lead the businesses as a part of the first step in the transition to a new and strengthened organizational structure. McLaren is now desperately in search of a win as its team won a race in 2012, and they are currently looking for a new Group Chief Executive Officer.
