Zinedine Zidane returned to coaching, Real Madrid won 2-0 at home to Celta Vigo in the 28th match of the Spanish League 2018/2019 at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Saturday (16/3).
Real Madrid goals are scored by Isco and Gareth Bale. Isco’s goal welcomed a cross assist from Karim Benzema on the left in the 62nd minute. Whereas Benzema used a pass from Marcelo. In the hands of the previous coach, Santiago Solari, Isco did not get full trust. In nine matches, Isco was never a starter, only a substitute.
Madrid had a deadlock in the first round. A number of golden opportunities were created, but did not produce a goal. One of them was Gareth Bale’s volley utilizing the rebounding ball from Karim Benzema’s shot which still hit Celta Vigo’s crossbar in the 30th minute.
Entering the second half, Madrid again tried to suppress Celta Vigo defense. Madrid even broke into the visitors’ goal thanks to Luka Modric’s kick in the 56th minute. However, the goal was disallowed after the referee saw the recording of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in the 58th minute.
Referee Juan Munuera assessed Raphael Varane in an offside position when Modric fired a shot to welcome a rebound from Celta Vigo defender who tried to dispel a corner. In replays, Varane is seen in a passive position.
Madrid could only score a goal in the 62nd minute. Isco who managed to hit the ball into the goal which was escorted by goalkeeper Ruben Blanco. The goal came from Benzema’s action combing the right side of the Celta Vigo defense. The Frenchman then released a cross. Isco who was in front of the opponent’s goal immediately grabbed the ball and scored.
After scoring, Isco was replaced by Dani Ceballos in the 64th minute.
Entering the 77th minute, Madrid added the advantage to 2-0 thanks to Bale’s goal. After receiving a short pass from Marcelo, the Welshman released a powerful kick that led to the right goal and could not be blocked by Ruben Blanco.
The match ended, Madrid sealed a 2-0 win over Celta Vigo in the Spanish La Liga 2018/2019 match.

Solari was sacked by Real Madrid after losing three chances to win the trophy at the same time in a week in the Copa del Rey, La Liga and eliminated from the Champions League. For Zinedine Zidane, this is the second period he became Real Madrid coach. Before retiring in June, Zidane brought Madrid to three consecutive Champions League titles, one La Liga title, one Spanish Super Cup, two European Super Cups and two Club World Cups.
