Real Madrid’s pre-season tour is over and it was a better experience for some than others. The giant opened their 2019 pre-season campaign with a conclusive defeat to hands of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich (3-1).
At the end of their pre-season, new signing Eden Hazard scored Madrid a 1-0 win over Austrian Red Bull Saclzburg in a hard-fought friendly in Austria.
In press conference, Zinedine Zidane full of praised for his squad after finishing their 2019 pre-season in Austria.
“I’m really pleased. We put in a good performance,” Zidane said.
“That’s why we came here. We’re going to do great things this season and now it’s important to carry on with our pre-season preparation because there’s still another game before LaLiga kicks off.
“We’re gradually getting ready and were better every day. That was confirmed by today’s match. I value the team’s efforts because it’s not easy and it was important to put on a display like this against a tough side.
“There are no small teams. If you’re not focused, any team can make life difficult. Today we were disciplined and showed intensity. We struggled a bit more in the second half but we’re happy to have won the game.” Zidane added.
Madrid completed the signing of Luka Jovic from Frankfurt, Eder Militao from Porto, Rodrygo from Santos, Ferland Mendy from Lyon, and Eden Hazard from Chelsea.
Rumours circulated around Gareth Bale, he is expected leave Madrid following several injuries in Madrid. However, Zidane has enjoyed his transfer window as manager with Madrid the first highest spenders in the La Liga this summer.
“I’m pleased because ultimately, all a coach wants is to have all his players available. There’s still one more game before LaLiga and we want to be in great shape in order to compete. If we compete well, we’ll achieve great things.” Zidane said.
Zidane’s side kick off their 2019/20 La Liga campaign with a trip to Estadio Municipal de Beladois to play Celta Vigo on August 17. Then they will take on Real Valladolid at Santiago Bernabeu.
