Ziyech Will Donate All His World Cup Income

Hakim Ziyech will donate the income he gets during the 2022 World Cup. Ziyech emphasized that he chose to defend the Moroccan national team not for money. Hakim Ziyech was part of the Morocco squad that made history at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Moroccan national team made by Walid Reragui was the biggest surprise at the 2022 World Cup. The squad, nicknamed the Atlas Lions, made it through to the semifinals of the grand tournament.

Along the way, the Moroccan national team was able to dominate the top position in Group F for the 2022 World Cup. Then in the knockout phase, Hakim Ziyech et al successfully knocked out Spain in the round of 16 and Portugal in the quarter-finals. Morocco also made a historic record as the first African team to reach the semifinals of the FIFA World Cup.

The Atlas lions’ steps were stopped by France with a score of 0-2 in the semifinal match. Morocco then ended their extraordinary journey at the 2022 World Cup Qatar as the fourth-placed team after losing 1-2 to Croatia in the match for third place, Saturday (17/12/2022).

After the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Hakim Ziyech, who performed well during the tournament, said that he would donate the money he got. According to Yahoo Sports, the 29-year-old midfielder managed to collect as much as US$277,575.90 during the 2022 World Cup. That amount of money was a bonus that he got thanks to his success in leading the Moroccan national team to the semifinals.

However, Ziyech will not use the money for his personal gain. The Chelsea player chose to donate the money to the poor in his country. “Of course I will donate my earnings to poor people in need,” said Ziyech. “I didn’t choose to defend Morocco for money. I made that choice from my heart,” said the player born in Dronten, Netherlands.

Hakim Ziyech was one of the Moroccan players who made an impressive appearance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. During the tournament, Ziyech, was always coach Walid Reragugui’s first choice. From seven appearances at the 2022 World Cup, Hakim Ziyech was able to score one goal and one assist.
