3 Surprise in the Champions League Today

A number of surprises occurred in the second matchday match of the 2019/2020 Champions League which was held on Tuesday (1/10) night and Wednesday (2/10).

The battle in the Champions League group phase this season continues to run fiercely. Clubs that were not initially favored could provide resistance to the big European teams.

As in the first matchday, some surprises also occurred in the second phase of the Champions League group stage this season.

Here are 3 surprises on the second matchday of the Champions League group stage today:

  1. Madrid Almost Lose

Real Madrid did not win until the second match of the Champions League group stage this season. Entertaining Club Brugge at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Madrid were held to a 2-2 draw against Brugge.

Even Madrid almost lost in front of his own supporters. Brugge’s visitors were 2-0 up early with two goals from Emmanuel Dennis in the ninth minute and 39 ‘.

Los Blancos could only reduce the position in the 55th minute through a goal by Sergio Ramos. Madrid’s equalizing goal was created in the 85th minute, it also had to wait after Brugge played with 10 people after Ruud Vormer was red-carded in the 84th minute after getting a second yellow card.

  1. PSG wins with difficulty

Other strong teams of Paris Saint-Germain also need to struggle first before a narrow 1-0 win over Galatasaray at the Turk Telekom Stadium.

In that match PSG released 15 kicks against Galatasaray, with 7 of them on target. But only one goal was created.

The mere puppet goal was born in the second half from the feet of Mauro Icardi who made use of Paulo Sarabia’s pass in the 52nd minute.

  1. Gnabry Quattrick

Bayern Munich celebrated at home to Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Stadium after winning 7-2. Interestingly, four of the seven goals were scored by Serge Gnabry, a former Arsenal player who incidentally is Tottenham city rivals.

The 24-year-old Winger is now one of Munich’s mainstays on the front lines after previously borrowing in his early career.

Gnabry began his professional career at Arsenal. But he didn’t get many opportunities with the Gunners and was loaned out to West Bromwich Albion. Gnabry was then recruited by Werder Bremen before being bought by Munich. Early in his career with Munchen, Gnabry had also been loaned out to Hoffenheim.
