5 Interesting Facts on NBA All Star 2024

The 73rd NBA All-Star 2024 will take place on February 17-19, 2024 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, United States. The Western and Eastern teams will be led by LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo respectively. There are five exciting facts that will color the NBA All-Star 2024 as below:

Arena Design and All-Star Uniforms

The 2024 NBA All-Star costumes are again being produced by Jordan Brand, which also marks a collaboration for seven consecutive years. The 2024 NBA All-Star jersey carries a nostalgic theme of Indiana basketball history by featuring the iconic Pacers pinstripe from the late 1990s and early 2000s. There are also design elements of the 2024 NBA All-Star logo combined with racing stripes, stars that represent each team’s players, and references to Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis.

The uniforms will also feature a “73rd Annual” graphic and an “ASG” logo on the belt inspired by early basketball graphics. This jersey, which is equipped with Nike Dri-FIT ADV technology, can be purchased at NBAStore.com, Nike.com, and certain retail stores after the announcement of the NBA All-Star starters.

Apart from that, the match arena will use an LED field resulting from a collaboration between the NBA and ASB Glassfloor. The court will be used for the Ruffles NBA All-Star Celebrity Game and State Farm All-Star Saturday Night on February 16-17. The court features interactive screens that enrich the viewing experience both in the arena and via television broadcasts. The latter event includes exciting competitions such as the Kia Skills Challenge, the STARRY 3-Point Contest, the first-ever NBA vs WNBA 3-Point Challenge, and the AT&T Slam Dunk competition.

LeBron James’ 20th All-Star Game

Los Angeles Lakers star, LeBron James, made history as an All-Star starter for the 20th time. He led the Western Conference vote with more than 5 million votes, the only player in the region to reach that mark and finished second overall to Giannis Antetokounmpo. With this achievement, LeBron was named an All-Star for the first 20 times in NBA history, surpassing legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who previously held the record with 19 selections. LeBron’s achievements further solidify his name as one of the greatest players in NBA history.

Western vs Eastern Format Returns

The 73rd NBA All-Star Game will bring back the classic Western vs Eastern Conference format. This match will take place with a traditional scoring distribution, namely four quarters of 12 minutes each. It is important to note that the system of no time keeping in the fourth quarter and the final target score rule have been removed. However, teams will still compete fiercely in each quarter with the aim of securing a win for their chosen charity organization.

The selection of team captains, namely Giannis Antetokounmpo (Eastern) and LeBron James (Western), was based on fan voting via NBA All-Star Voting presented by AT&T.

The Fiercest 3-Pointer Battle

The action of Sabrina Ionescu, New York Liberty guard, in the Starry 3-Point Contest at the 2023 WNBA All-Star who missed two shots in the final round and scored 37 of 40 points broke the record for the contest. It also caught the attention of the basketball world, including NBA 3-Point Shooting legend Stephen Curry. In a chat with Warriors rookie Brandin Podziemski before the Sacramento Kings’ match against the Golden State Warriors, Stephen discussed this moment again.

“Maybe I should invite her to compete, we have to finish this once and for all,” said Stephen. This conversation was broadcast on TNT and immediately went viral on social media platform X. Not long after, Sabrina Ionescu responded to the challenge, making this dream duel a reality. All-Stars Game: NBA 2K League Alley

During the 2024 NBA All-Star celebrations in Indianapolis, NBA 2K League Alley brings a mesmerizing mix of basketball culture and a Japanese twist. Located in the Indiana Convention Center, this interactive space invites fans to dive into a world where gaming, basketball and entertainment come together. Fans are treated to various exciting activities, from playing NBA 2K on special stations to competing against pro NBA 2K League players.

The festive atmosphere is further enhanced by special glow-in-the-dark merchandise, gaming skills tests and live performances. Special guests such as NBA player Tyrese Haliburton and popular content creators also enlivened the event. A major highlight of NBA 2K League Alley is the “AT&T Presents NBA 2K League Indy Showdown”, a 3v3 NBA 2K match involving active NBA players. This is the first event involving active NBA players since a groundbreaking partnership was announced last year between the NBA 2K League and the National Basketball Players Association.
